The Kansas City Marathon offers marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K distances through Kansas City, Missouri, starting and finishing near the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The course passes the National WWI Museum and Memorial, Country Club Plaza, Waldo, Westport, and the 18th & Vine Jazz District. Held annually in mid-October, the marathon and half marathon are USATF certified and the marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. First run in 1979 as the Macy's Marathon, it was renamed the Kansas City Marathon in 1984. Source
