Tsukuba Marathon
Race Day Weather
Cool start, pleasant finish
Runners will face temperatures starting at 52°F and climbing to 59°F by the finish. With light winds from the NW at 6 mph and humidity at 66%, conditions should be manageable. However, as it feels like 48°F pre-race, a throwaway layer may be beneficial during warm-up. Runners should maintain a steady pace given the mild temperatures.

Race Info
The Tsukuba Marathon takes place in late November in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, a science and research city about an hour northeast of Tokyo. The course starts at the Iias Tsukuba shopping complex and finishes at Tsukuba City Hall, a route introduced in 2025 that replaced the race's earlier loop through the University of Tsukuba campus. The marathon field is capped at 11,000 runners, one of the largest citizen marathons in Japan outside Tokyo. It is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
