Makoa Half Marathon
Race Day Weather
Hot start, moderate wind
A warm 77°F start means heat management is critical — consider dialing back your goal pace by 10-20 sec/mi. Moderate winds around 16mph may affect pacing on open sections of the course. Moderate humidity at 75% is worth noting for effort level, especially in later miles.

Race Info
The Makoa 5K, 10K and Half Marathon runs each November at Wai Kai, a waterfront recreation facility on Ewa Beach's West O'ahu shoreline. The course starts at Wai Kai and follows Keone'ula Boulevard before turning onto Papipi Road for a flat run along the coast. "Makoa" is a Hawaiian name meaning brave or fearless. The race is one of six annual events organized by Aloha Racing across O'ahu and has run since 2023.
