Winds will be light overall, but headwinds will challenge runners at miles 10 and 13, while tailwinds can aid in miles 14 and 17. Adjusting pace for the rolling terrain, especially on the climbs at miles 1 and 15, will be crucial for maintaining energy.

Juneau Marathon and Half-Marathon are conducted on rolling, USATF-certified courses on Douglas and North Douglas Highways on Douglas Island (across Gastineau Channel from Juneau, Alaska). The marathon course features scenic water views and a stunning vista of Mendenhall Glacier. Not too many other races in the USA can lay claim to that aspect!
