Race Info
The Deadwood-Mickelson Trail Marathon runs point to point through South Dakota's Black Hills, starting in the small town of Rochford and finishing at the historic Engine House in Deadwood. Most of the course follows the George S. Mickelson Trail, a rail-trail built on a former Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad line that closed to trains in the 1980s and was converted to a trail through the 1990s. The route climbs to roughly 6,200 feet by mile 14 before descending to a finish near 4,500 feet. The course is USATF certified and qualifies for the Boston Marathon. Source
