Race Info
The Daufuskie Island Marathon and Half Marathon are held on a Saturday in mid-January on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina, which runners reach by ferry from Hilton Head Island. Both races start and finish at Haig Point on the island's north end. The marathon is two laps of a USATF-certified 13.1-mile loop past the Haig Point Lighthouse, Freeport, Tabby Circle and the Atlantic shoreline. About 90 percent of the course is paved road and the rest is flat, hard-packed dirt or crushed oyster shell, on open roads with few vehicles. Source
