Race Info
The City of Oaks Marathon has run through Raleigh, North Carolina every November since 2007, when local runner Kaz Yahyapour helped found the race after recovering from a heart attack. The marathon and half marathon share a course for the first nine miles, starting near NC State University on Hillsborough Street before continuing onto the Capital Area Greenway and out to a turnaround near Shelley Lake Park. The full marathon is USATF-certified (NC21010NW) and a Boston Marathon qualifier. The event has grown into one of the Triangle's largest race weekends, drawing more than 7,600 participants across the marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K in 2024.
