Stronger headwinds are expected in Miles 3, 10, 14, and 18, while a beneficial tailwind will assist runners from Miles 16 to 27. Starting conservatively will help manage the rising temperatures.

Back Your Badge Marathon is a marathon, half marathon and 5K in Plainfield, Indiana that raises money for local police, fire and 911 dispatch personnel. First run in 2023, it is held in September at the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center. The course covers historic US 40 and the Plainfield Parks Trail System, passing local police, fire and communications facilities along the way. Runners pick an agency to represent, and each mile completed adds to that agency's running total for a season-long, trophy-earning competition.
